The continuous advancement in technology allows more people to see the importance of learning to code.

How? Coding helps solves business problems and creates improvements. It makes things better, faster, and easier. Coding automates a repetitive task or even transform how things are done.

For example:

  • Yelp change how we select what to eat and where to eat

  • Uber changed forever how we move for short and long rides

Therefore, understanding the basics of it makes users digitally fluent and knowledgeable in various aspects of technology.

In simpler terms, coding is the way humans can communicate with computers.

We people like to communicate, and when communication is not clear, there tend to be misunderstandings. Much like in computers, it talks in ones and zeros, so if one code is placed incorrectly, there would be a misunderstanding with the other codes. Thus, attention to detail is a crucial skill to have.

Many benefits go beyond just writing lines of code and a fancy-looking resume; coding boosts problem-solving and logic skills. Coding also fosters resilience, persistence, and creativity. Apart from that, getting started in learning a programming language is not as daunting as it sounds, nor is it ever too late to learn. It is literally like trying to learn a new language like French and Spanish. It follows a set of rules, syntax, and structures which, when compiled, makes a sentence to convey a message. There's an abundance of free and low-cost resources available online that can help you get started.
